Saphumula was founded in 1991 and duly registered in 1994 as a Savings & Credit Co-operative Society (SACCO), with the aim of enhancing the social and economic standard of living for its members. Membership is drawn mainly from the ICT and related sectors, which currently comprises of employees from Eswatini Posts & Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC), Eswatini Television Authority (ETVA), MTN Eswatini, MV Telecommunications (Mvtel), Eswatini Agricultural Development Enterprise (ESWADE), Women & Children Hospital, Maganu Production and Royal Science & Technology Park (RSTP).
